A Lifestyle on the Water

Charleston, South Carolina, is known for its stunning waterways, warm climate, and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation – and for those who love life on the water, water skiing is another one of the area’s exciting pursuits. With mild temperatures and sunshine prevailing through much of the year, locals and visitors can ski almost year-round, with only a few cooler months that require a wetsuit. From winding tidal creeks to purpose-built lakes, the Lowcountry offers the perfect mix of natural beauty and world-class conditions for every level of skier.

For Charleston residents, water skiing isn’t just a weekend activity – it’s part of the coastal lifestyle. The easy access to calm waters, combined with a community that embraces outdoor living, makes it simple to spend mornings on the lake and afternoons enjoying everything else the Holy City has to offer. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or just love the energy of life near the water, Charleston provides a year-round invitation to get outside and enjoy the ride.

Water Skiing at Trophy Lakes

Just a short drive from downtown, Johns Island is home to Trophy Lakes, a premier water sports venue designed specifically for skiing and wakeboarding. It’s a place where families come to enjoy a sunny weekend on the water, and where seasoned skiers can refine their technique. The area was also the original home of the Ski Seth Water Ski Training Center, run by professional skier and coach Seth Stisher, adding to the local culture of performance and passion for the sport. He and his family still train in the area and although he no longer offers coaching, he can connect you with things locally.
